In my process, I use many layers of paint on wood panels; adding, subtracting, discovering new forms and figurations; covering them finding new ones; excavating.

From 1997 to August 2001 I lived in Rome, Italy, surrounded by its own layers of history which inspired me to keep digging, scratching, uncovering, restoring, always looking for what the light revealed and transformed. Now, I have returned to my origins. My paintings continue to offer me the opportunity to "excavate," but they are the emotional layers of my own history combined with the vibrant energy of New York City that are slowly explored and revealed.
